The 7th Congressional
District of Alabama; A Political Gettysburg in the 2012 Elections
During
his Gettysburg address on November 23, 1863, Abraham Lincoln was keenly aware that a powerful message could trigger
a much needed turning point in order to insure that “this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom; and
that government of the people, by the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
One hundred forty eight years
later, our nation faces yet another set of challenges and uncertainties. We should remind ourselves that Lincoln’s
words remain relevant as we must confront the fact that we need a turning point in order to preserve and protect the principles
provided by a governmental system that is truly “of the people, by the people”.
We benefit from the
fact that the cause of the uncertainty we face today is known. Reckless, self-serving, Washington politicians seem to
have forgotten that they are elected officials, trusted by voters to represent and address the concerns of “we the people”.
The candidates chosen to serve as our local and state “voices” have failed to keep us informed of Washington activities
and how the decisions made by political insiders are affecting our everyday lives.
The good news is that
when problems are clearly identified, solutions can be found. The lack of transparency and accountability can be fixed.
“We the people” have an opportunity, and in many respects, a responsibility, to vote these Washington insiders
out of office.
I believe that the results of the 2012 Presidential Election will go down in history as the most
important election since 1860 in determining whether future generations will report that the citizens of this country actively
participated in creating a turning point or if we sat, idly by, willing to accept our country’s current course as the
best possible path for ourselves, our children and our grandchildren.
As a GOP Congressional Candidate in the 7th
Congressional District of Alabama, I am committed, without compromise, to do all I can to uphold the principles that were
promoted and protected by our previous great leaders and valued by citizens who helped mold our country into the greatest
place to live, work and raise a family. I am committed to help cleanse our political system that was, at one time, the
envy of nations around the globe. On behalf of citizens in this district, I will lead the charge to rid Washington of
the liberals who have twisted the principles established by our forefathers to afford themselves personal gain at the economic
and social expense our district has faced… for over three decades.
