In 1992, I worked on Newt Gingrich’s campaign escorting the former speaker in the 6th Congressional District of
Georgia and introducing him to advancing technologies developed in his district.
Since that time, new technologies
have exploded in virtually every field of science. I have spent the better part of my life promoting many of these new
technologies because I have a thorough understanding of how they create good paying jobs in a variety of fields.
I was born and raised in the heart of the 7th Congressional District and seeing lose its economic base and become
one of the poorest districts in the state, if not in the nation, drives me to seek this office and work towards creating a
better life for the home folks.
I do this knowing that reviving our sinking economy will require a total commitment
from all the stakeholders in our district. I’m equally aware that the dismal statistics on unemployment and job
losses are much higher in the African- American, Native-American, and Latino communities throughout our District.
For those who are having difficulty finding gainful employment, my message is simply this: there is “hope.”
The time for drawing lines in the sand was over the first day I stepped into this political race. For I believe when it comes
to creating jobs, it is an “all encompassing circle” which includes everyone who is looking for and wanting to
work.
The high unemployment and job losses in our communities must be addressed with uncompromising determination.
Work is freedom; freedom from the demeaning and spirit breaking consequences of not being able to find gainful employment.
With 30 years experience working with advancing technologies and an understanding of how they lead to jobs, as your
U.S. Congressman I will hit the ground running in using the power of that office for recruiting jobs into our district.
This is my primary reason for stepping into this race at this time: To create more jobs. My track record for establishing
a job-based political platform is consistent and can be traced back to 1992. It has been the foundation of every political
race I have engaged in.
The condition of our nation’s economy is worse than it has been at any time in my
career, and the economy within the 7th Congressional District is declining even faster, with unprecedented unemployment and
job losses.
The citizens of the 7th Congressional District of Alabama deserve a leader who is willing to offer
straight talk and a square deal; straight talk on how I, as your Congressman, will establish a new and invigorating job market
for you, the people I represent. You deserve a leader who can demonstrate what will be done to create lucrative jobs. You
deserve to know these jobs will serve the entire district, including everyone who is seeking a better quality of life for
themselves and their loved ones.
This is not an election for the faint hearted or ill advised. By the same token,
everyone living in the district will be invited to join our campaign with their special talents and contributions, marching
forward, together, toward a better economic future for all the people in District 7. I am ready and eager
to debate the other candidates on our respective economic revitalization platforms. For in the end, if we do justice in promoting
our economic agendas, the people of the 7th Congressional District of Alabama will be the ultimate winners.
“Let’s
Get to Work” creating a new day for all our citizens with a renewed commitment that we, as a people, will not be satisfied
until the job is done.
